Fotor was an alternative application we used to create our ancillary products. The tools and effects available suited our genre, and the simplicity of how to use the app really helped. Some features were premium, meaning you had to pay for them, but the effects that were available were varied and there was a wide variety of effects that were available to use.

I used Pinterest to research elements of our genre that we wanted to include in our music video. I created a mood board of clothes, makeup and hairstyles that we could use, and looked at props we could feature. Pinterest has a wide variety of image available, which was really helpful, however sometimes the quality, or size of these images were not good.

Final magazine design - Anna Hester, Izzy Kelly
After creating this magazine advert and getting reviews and feedback from it we decided that this was not appropriate. Although it matches themes to the music video its hard to distinguish the genre of music and imagery of the singer doesn't represent the group that makes up Etherwood.
Magazine Advert Design Idea
This is my drawing of my idea for our album advert. I thought we could have an action shot of Izzy flipping her hair (as she does this in the video) from the shoulders up placed at the bottom centre of the advert. We could have the original photo at the front and then two layers in the background to appear like a 3D image when you don't wear the glasses. (One layer blue, one layer red.) The yellow titling of 'Etherwood' could cover her face, with her eyes still visible, as drum and bass artists are never the sole focus of their album covers/adverts. 'Etherwood' will also be repeated underneath in the same font but in white. The background colour could either be bright pink to contrast with the yellow titling as well as to conform to the conventions of the drum and bass genre, or black to allow the titles to be the main focus and link with the black and white in our video. The title of the album ('Natural') will be at the bottom of the advert written in the same font as 'Etherwood', however more spaced out. As well as this, 'La Lune' (the record company) will be at the bottom with the symbol of the half moon and the website www.etherwood.com.
Magazine advert planning - Anna Hester
Here is an idea that I have created and believe would be appropriate for our magazine advert. From analysing other music adverts in magazines has helped me to understand what makes a good advert, especially when it includes all the key aspects.
My idea here is to have the artists center to frame, the background back making the artist stand out in colour. There is a rectangle frame around the sides of the page, this will be in white with the bottom right corner erased for the record labels name. On the top is the name of the artist in capitals and beneath that in larger writing is the name of the album 'natural', as a group we thought this name was appropriate as is contridicts the style of music. Then beneath the imagery in smaller writing tells you were you can buy the music.
Magazine Advert Idea
my magazine advert idea was to morph the main singers eyes (Izzy) on to that of a pigeon / seagull. this is because birds are features a lot in the music video and i thought it therefore would be a good contrast to our title of 'natural'. this however would allow the advert to be captivating, but to help make it different from others. this reflects the conventions of the drum and bass genre as they thrive on being different. i also proposed for the seagull to be in black and white. but the eyes to be a normal colour. the background would be mixed into different colours, which would change were the next line of the sea is shown. i have chosen to use the sea in the background as again it reflects the name of our album but it was also seen in our music video. the titling and font will all be the same font style but it will also be in white, to stand out from the bright colours and to therefore be able efficiently sell our album.
Magazine Advert Planning
This is my magazine advert for our album. I made sure the album name, artist name and release date were on it, alongside where you can buy it (the website), what forms the album comes in(CD/Vinyl) and the company logo.
I used our signature yellow colour, to reflect the bands style, and applied colour splashes to the background and colour slashes to the face to represent our bands genre of drum and bass.
I used a bold font, to make the advert stand out among the magazine, and capitalised important information, such as the bands name, the album name, the release date, the name of the featuring single and the forms in which you can buy the album. The colour of the band name would be in our signature 'yellow' style, with other important information being in either black or white, depending on the background colour of black or white, so that the writing contrasts and stands out.
I wrote this magazine advert with formal register, as although drum and bass is dance music, when the audience look at the magazine advert, I want the information to be clear and easy to read and remember.
The magazine cover features the artists face, as I'd like the album to be easily recognizable, and as our music video features the artist, I think the audience will be able to relate the image to the magazine, if they have seen the video.

Individual CD design idea - Anna Hester
Here is my idea on what our Digipack could look like. I have looked at the main things that you would associate drum and bass music to look like, this being a city landscape and boombox. I think that we should use this design because I think that it fits the genre of music the best, but also looks good at the same time, while also fitting with the criteria.

Album Ideas Wordle - Anna Hester, Izzy Kelly, Catriona Morgan, Martha Ellison
These are titles we brain stormed for our album:
1) Natural Escape
1) Natural Escape
2) Urban Concept
3) Reaching Simplicity
Magazine Advert
I created these magazine adverts on 'Fotor' . I created two very contrasting adverts and asked 5 target audience members for their opinion on them. The first advert I created was very minimalist and modern, to appeal to a wide range of music audience members. The black and white is simple and effective and doesnt specifically identify with a certain gender.
On the other advert i used bright colours and added a high contrast in photo colour. The high contrast looks as though a photo is being taken, relating to the modern day generation of teenagers, and our target audience of young adults aged 16-25. I added pink to the advert to support the female artist on the front cover, and identify with female audience members who are more likely to identify with the artist.

CD Digi pack- own design.
I chose this CD digi pack design for the front cover, because I don't think that the artist should be centre stage on the album cover, I think the artist should be there but at the same time distant. therefore I decided to pixelate out the artist herself but leave the outline. this is so the audience will have some idea the artist is included, but they don't know who it is therefore leaving a air of mystery. I think this works as a CD front cover as it matches the Drum and Bass genre, this is because the drum and bass genre are known for making random album covers, to excited the audience and to illicit a different response from the consumers hence why I believe this album cover would work for our ancillary product. I went with the name Urban Concept due to the urban nature of our video, most of the scenes are shot in the urban streets of Paris, therefore relating to urban, and concept well its an idea, which people by looking at the album they think they have an idea, but by listening to the songs and the intensity of the music there ideas can change.

Importance of Facebook messenger when making the music video
Facebook messenger, was a huge importance when making our video as on Facebook messenger we managed to organise when and where we were going to film, and who was going to do what. Facebook messenger was also a place for members of the group to give opinions and ideas of what we could include in the video. this is where the idea of projections, which we used throughout the music video arose.
