Final Digipack design (update) - Anna Hester, Izzy Kelly, Catriona Morgan, Martha Ellison
Here is our finalised Digipack design that we think best suits the genre of music and fits the criteria best.
The insides have been designed by Martha and Catriona using Fotor :
We chose to use the boom box as it is a common association with the Drum and Bass genre. The speaker on the right also (almost) creates the perfect place for the CD to sit when you open the Digi-pack. Fotor was beneficial as we were able to edit it to be black and white, matching the front, and making the inside link more to the outside (which is feedback we received from some audience members.) We also continued the theme of yellow font from the front to the inside (when writing the thank you's) to create a continuity. I think the updated CD Design and Mag Ad are good as they fit the genre much better than what we had previously created.
The front, back and spine were designed by Anna and Izzy on Fotor :
Front
We decided to go with this design for the front of the case because we believe that it really captures what drum and bass is all about. The bright and bold title 'URBAN CONCEPT' shouts the upbeat loud music especially on top of the black and white urban background. Whereas the name of the drum and bass group is featured below the title of the album in a more low key font and colour. We did this to create a contrast.
Back
For the back of the case we wanted to keep the same theme as the front, creating an aesthetic flow. We kept the same colour schemes and font, we also added the record label and a bar-code to help make it look more professional.
Side
For the spine of the case we have kept the same theme as the front and back. The name of the group is written in the same font as the front, but is in white to stand out from the darker background. At the bottom is the logo for the record label. The insides have been designed by Martha and Catriona using Fotor :

Audience feedback from our final products:
Once we completed all our ancillary products, i found 3 members of our target audience, teenagers and young adults. i then interviewed them on there opinions on our ancillary products. 2 members reviewed the music video, and the other one reviewed the other ancillary products, such as the CD Digi pack and the Magazine Advert.

Interim Evaluation 10/1/16
I am really happy with the final outcome of the video, and ancillary products. i think that all products accurately reflect the genre of Drum and bass, i think that the video accurately reflects the genre and i also think that our use of unique ideas such as editing the video in colour but also in black and white depending on the pace of the music. i think our second unique idea to use projections was a great idea and helped us to place the artist in front of paris scenery, as we all couldnt go to paris in order to film the video.
in the end we managed to put all our ideas together and accurately work as a team which ultimatley allowed us to create all our ancillary products. the idea to let all of us complete one section of the Digi pack was again a good idea as it allowed all of us to have an input in designing the Digi pack. Cat and i designed the inside of the Digi pack, we decided to incorporate the boombox, which could be considered a symbol of the drum and bass genre.

Alterations made along the way.
along the way, we made a number of alterations including changing one of locations from London to Paris. another alteration we made included changing the video itself to make it better and again relate to the genre. the original video we made was the rough-cut as you can see below. however we changed this video in order to enhance our skills and to make it follow the story board and show our desired outcome. the final music video which we uploaded, was a huge improvement on the rough-cut we created. this was because in the final video we all managed to come together in order to achieve the same desired outcome. we therefore changed most shots but kept in some shots from the original. we also changed the editing to fit with the beat, especially in the chorus. finally in the final video we decided to only have one artist In it unlike in the rough-cut where we had two. we did this because we didn't think the two artists worked together and fitted the genre. therefore all the alterations we made along the way allowed us to be where we are now and ultimately allowed us to create a great and exciting video.

Difficulties we encountered
Throughout the process of the ancillary products we encountered quite a few difficulties. these ranged from us having disagreements over what we thought the video should look like. and also the difficulty of perfecting our ancillary products such as the Digi pack and the magazine advert. however all these problems were soon overcome. we managed to sort out the disagreements quickly and efficiently and we did this by allowing everyone to have there input in the video, and then deciding as a team what we should include and what we shouldn't. for the other ancillary products we managed to overcome the Digi pack, by adapting our design to show the drum and bass genre, the Digi pack had 3 designs before we came to the final design of the inside as a boom box but displayed in different colours which stood out and reflected the genre. We encountered the problem of the magazine advert by basing the front of our album and the magazine advert as the same, we also changed the name of our album from natural, to urban concept as we realised this name reflected the genre more efficiently.

Inside Digipack
Audienece Review (music video) - Anna Hester, Izzy Kelly, Catriona Morgan, Martha Ellison
We played our music video to 5 people in our target audience range.
We asked constructive questions, where we wanted any ideas they had that might fit our music video and whether or not the video fitted the genre of drum and bass. The responses we got were good, and we have already started to add in some of their ideas, such as more projections.

Magazine Advert Idea
my magazine advert idea was to morph the main singers eyes (Izzy) on to that of a pigeon / seagull. this is because birds are features a lot in the music video and i thought it therefore would be a good contrast to our title of 'natural'. this however would allow the advert to be captivating, but to help make it different from others. this reflects the conventions of the drum and bass genre as they thrive on being different. i also proposed for the seagull to be in black and white. but the eyes to be a normal colour. the background would be mixed into different colours, which would change were the next line of the sea is shown. i have chosen to use the sea in the background as again it reflects the name of our album but it was also seen in our music video. the titling and font will all be the same font style but it will also be in white, to stand out from the bright colours and to therefore be able efficiently sell our album.
Research Of Magazine Advert
the magazine advert i chose, was the clean bandit tour poster. this however is not a magazine advert but still has some conventions of one. this is because in both of them they would reflect the artists intentions etc. on the advert it can be seen to show the same font throughout, and its also included its main album cover as the background. but the shapes on the advert, reflect the different members of the band itself. the colours used, go from dark to light, nut they always seem to contrast eachother. the bold writing however would therefore reflect the genre of electronic pop.

CD Digi pack- own design.
I chose this CD digi pack design for the front cover, because I don't think that the artist should be centre stage on the album cover, I think the artist should be there but at the same time distant. therefore I decided to pixelate out the artist herself but leave the outline. this is so the audience will have some idea the artist is included, but they don't know who it is therefore leaving a air of mystery. I think this works as a CD front cover as it matches the Drum and Bass genre, this is because the drum and bass genre are known for making random album covers, to excited the audience and to illicit a different response from the consumers hence why I believe this album cover would work for our ancillary product. I went with the name Urban Concept due to the urban nature of our video, most of the scenes are shot in the urban streets of Paris, therefore relating to urban, and concept well its an idea, which people by looking at the album they think they have an idea, but by listening to the songs and the intensity of the music there ideas can change.

Font Analysis: DVD & Magazine Adverts.
The font used in both fall out boys tour post and album cover is again similar, this is again to reinforce the idea of the band, but to help to associate the audience with tis album being the main reason for the band touring. the band have chosen to use bold capital writing in white to help make the title stand out from the rest of the album which is more dark in colour.
The font used in both of clean bandits tour poster and album cover, is again the same, this is again to reinforce the band as a whole but to also remind the audience to associate that font with this band. they have gone for a clear black font which stands out infront of the image behind. they all have spaced the letters out evenly in order to make them more enticing.
CD Digipak Analysis
in this video i have include 3 different CD digipaks, they are by 3 different artists such as Chase and status, Rihanna and Katy Perry. these Digipaks all include, a CD but an additional booklet, these could contain things such as lyrics, or thank you notes to friends and family. these booklets sometimes contain posters, or photoshoots of the artist. all 3 have a booklet but some have extras such as a poster. this therefore would encourage more people to buy the bands CD if they would receive a special poster with it. when we make a Digipak, we will need to make sure to have the album cover and song list, but to also have extras this could be a poster, or even a photoshoot booklet form creating the video.

Importance of Facebook messenger when making the music video
Facebook messenger, was a huge importance when making our video as on Facebook messenger we managed to organise when and where we were going to film, and who was going to do what. Facebook messenger was also a place for members of the group to give opinions and ideas of what we could include in the video. this is where the idea of projections, which we used throughout the music video arose.
