Final Digipack design (update) - Anna Hester, Izzy Kelly, Catriona Morgan, Martha Ellison

Here is our finalised Digipack design that we think best suits the genre of music and fits the criteria best.

The front, back and spine were designed by Anna and Izzy on Fotor :
Front
We decided to go with this design for the front of the case because we believe that it really captures what drum and bass is all about. The bright and bold title 'URBAN CONCEPT' shouts the upbeat loud music especially on top of the black and white urban background. Whereas the name of the drum and bass group is featured below the title of the album in a more low key font and colour. We did this to create a contrast.
Back
For the back of the case we wanted to keep the same theme as the front, creating an aesthetic flow. We kept the same colour schemes and font, we also added the record label and a bar-code to help make it look more professional.
Side
For the spine of the case we have kept the same theme as the front and back. The name of the group is written in the same font as the front, but is in white to stand out from the darker background. At the bottom is the logo for the record label.

The insides have been designed by Martha and Catriona using Fotor :
We chose to use the boom box as it is a common association with the Drum and Bass genre. The speaker on the right also (almost) creates the perfect place for the CD to sit when you open the Digi-pack. Fotor was beneficial as we were able to edit it to be black and white, matching the front, and making the inside link more to the outside (which is feedback we received from some audience members.) We also continued the theme of yellow font from the front to the inside (when writing the thank you's) to create a continuity. I think the updated CD Design and Mag Ad are good as they fit the genre much better than what we had previously created.

Final magazine design (update) - Anna Hester

Here is our new magazine ad design. We think that the advertisement best suits the genre of music, we also linked it to the Digipack. This helps to create a flow between the product and advertisement, giving the group an image which can be identified by the target audience.
The AD features the name of the album and the artists names in the biggest and boldest font, and smaller information like were you can purchase the album is less visible. The record label logo is also featured. There is also a review of 3 stars from both Itunes and the Guardian.

Inside Digipack

Inside the Digi-Pack

This will be the inside left cover of our Digi-Pack and the picture below will be the right hand cover of the inside of our Digi-Pack, the moon fitting perfectly with the circle of where the CD will go as well as linking with the 'La Lune' record company/label.

Fotor

Fotor was an alternative application we used to create our ancillary products. The tools and effects available suited our genre, and the simplicity of how to use the app really helped. Some features were premium, meaning you had to pay for them, but the effects that were available were varied and there was a wide variety of effects that were available to use.

Ancillary product discussions - Anna Hester, Izzy Kelly, Catriona Morgan, Martha Ellison

Magazine Advert Idea

my magazine advert idea was to morph the main singers eyes (Izzy) on to that of a pigeon / seagull. this is because birds are features a lot in the music video and i thought it therefore would be a good contrast to our title of 'natural'. this however would allow the advert to be captivating, but to help make it different from others. this reflects the conventions of the drum and bass genre as they thrive on being different. i also proposed for the seagull to be in black and white. but the eyes to be a normal colour. the background would be mixed into different colours, which would change were the next line of the sea is shown. i have chosen to use the sea in the background as again it reflects the name of our album but it was also seen in our music video. the titling and font will all be the same font style but it will also be in white, to stand out from the bright colours and to therefore be able efficiently sell our album.

CD Digi pack- own design.

I chose this CD digi pack design for the front cover, because I don't think that the artist should be centre stage on the album cover, I think the artist should be there but at the same time distant. therefore I decided to pixelate out the artist herself but leave the outline. this is so the audience will have some idea the artist is included, but they don't know who it is therefore leaving a air of mystery. I think this works as a CD front cover as it matches the Drum and Bass genre, this is because the drum and bass genre are known for making random album covers, to excited the audience and to illicit a different response from the consumers hence why I believe this album cover would work for our ancillary product. I went with the name Urban Concept due to the urban nature of our video, most of the scenes are shot in the urban streets of Paris, therefore relating to urban, and concept well its an idea, which people by looking at the album they think they have an idea, but by listening to the songs and the intensity of the music there ideas can change.

Digi pack inspiration

Inspiration for our Digi pack came from the single and album of chase and status. We liked the way the artist had used the black and white theme whilst adding colour. We thought that this would be a good design idea which would match our video. We believed this because our music videos main colour is black and white, and seeming the chase and status are a drum and bass group. We could therefore relate our music video and our Digi pack.

Magazine Advert design- own idea

for the magazine advert, i designed it to be brightly coloured with other objects associated with the drum and bass genre such as the boom box. the magazine also includes the picture of the album which is soon to be released. i stated the title with urban concept as thats the name we as a group decided for the album, i also added how it is now available on itunes.
